Not What it Seems

 Celia, still fairly newborn, 3.2007

Batten Disease is, arguably, one of the ugliest things the world has ever seen.
But she's not.
It's amazing, sometimes, how far removed the name of a thing can fall from the thing itself.

Poppy John's Believe It Or Not{PJBION}: Grandma Sandy demanded to know why I got home 10 hours late the other night. I explained, "that while driving and simultaneously checking e-mail on my laptop, I overshot our driveway by 150 miles, believe it or not!"

  2. Words. I sometimes need them – need to touch them and see them and hear them and taste them in my mouth. There was a time I might’ve said I loved words; big ones, small ones, long ones, short ones –words have often been my friends. But now...I'm starting to like the notion of NO WORDS. Seems like things too big for words are swirling about…and I'm starting to think that sometimes words get in the way of knowing what's true.
