New York can be an overwhelming city to visit, no matter how many times you've been. It is crowded, loud, expensive and larded with a seemingly infinite number of landmarks that simply must be experienced. With children, all of these things become amplified. But so does the awe.
We needed to be in NYC for a family wedding, and decided it was important for the boys to attend. Tucker could not wait to see the Statue of Liberty, and Tolliver really wanted to ride in a taxi. We took care of all of that on day one -- a shuttle to the airport, an airplane, a cab to the hotel to drop off luggage, the subway to Battery Park and a ferry to Liberty Island. And then a quick ride on some glowing fish at the SeaGlass Carousel for good measure.
Ibn Battuta is known to have said about traveling: It leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller.
Our boys both have a lot to say about the trip! We'll share more soon...
Jenni Baby,
ReplyDeleteI just hope you didn't try the N.Y.C. picante sauce.

We've been wanting to take L for some time but I always thought it might be too big for him. You've proven me wrong. Looks like lots of fun!
ReplyDeleteKristy, we were hesitant - I kept having nightmares about one of the boys falling onto the metro track... But people LIVE in that city with children :) And it was important to us for them to be part of the wedding weekend! When you guys decide to go, let me know and I'll share my notes!!
