always a way forward

Tolliver's was the first quarantine birthday at our house, the others celebrated in pre-pandemic times, the last birthday fairy balloons hung at a hotel in Hawaii. 

There is no perfect way through any of this, but it turns out disappointment is more palatable with frequent doses of sugar. Things like donuts and pumpkin pie and chocolate almonds and Scandinavian swimmers feel tiny and epic at the same time.
