I love the way my memories return when I witness him make his own.
I remember when lightning bugs signaled summer curfew drawing near, and the way their bright tail ends made sparkly “engagement rings.” Did you catch fireflies as a child, too?

I love fireflies. I don't remember catching them as much as just looking with wonder as they flew through the trees and shrubs.
We did catch them nightly growing up and when our "city" cousins came for a visit we also took them snipe hunting. Have you ever been?
The last picture makes us want to say "tickle, tickle." :) We caught many fireflies. How long before you let them go? I always had a hard time figuring that out . . .
Oh such memories you brought back to me.......I remember catching fireflies with Jenni, Kate, Andrea and Molly..........Ali was a little young. What fun!
Jenni, I made firefly engagement rings, too! My girls think it's the most disgusting thing they've ever heard! And, Mary, my dad took my mom snipe hunting on a date during their early courting days some 60+ years ago. :)
The boys caught them two nights ago! They gave up on cupping them in their hands though and got out their butterfly nets. We didn't have to decide whether or not to release them, as we were almost ready to retire, Mark knocked over the entire jar so out they all flew much to Luke's dismay : )
