There are complex methods and thick books, and I’m not saying I shouldn’t subscribe to those ways of parenting. But my mom read to me and my dad took me outside, and I can do that with my boys. I know that I will make mistakes, and I know I can’t give them everything. But I can expose them to music and mountains and manners, and I can give them time with their grandparents. And there may not be much more they'll ever need than that.

I think your parenting is spot on. And while eagerly searching for the big red tub picture I realized that I'm becoming a bit more accustomed to T1's moon :)
Looks like good times in WV!
Whenever I encounter a hammock, I think of your family. I thought it was because the one at the cabin was the first one I encountered in my youth. Now you have me thinking that it might not have been so much about first impressions as it is a shared belief in the sacredness of the perfect spot to read a book, outside.
there is such beauty in simplicity and the confidence that said simplicity can be enough.
