It’s been awhile since I wanted the camera to catch me on film (or jpg or whatever). But I LOVE looking at photos of myself as a babe, not because I’m narcissistic – I was a cute kid; most kids are cute – but because there are other things to learn. Like that my mom had her finger nails painted at my second birthday party. Or that, hanging out on the river, my aunt wore a tshirt that said “I do it at least 14 times a week” (with a toothbrush on the back). Or that my cousin sported huaraches, with socks, with her Easter dress.
I realize that if I don’t step into the frame once in awhile, if I don’t document myself a bit, my kids might wonder where I was or whether my toenails were done or something. Really though, I just hope they notice I was wearing a smile.

And what a lovely smile! It's good that we can "re-hear" the sounds of loved ones' laughs by looking back at family pictures.
Wonderful picture BUT which "cute babe" is laughing the hardest? Just curious.
Even if you're not in lots of pictures, they know now and forever that they were loved, unconditionally & whole-heartedly, by their mommy.
Is there a chapter in the Motherhood Book that states "please get in a few pictures"? Oh - none of us got that book, did we?
The smiles and the details are the things that bring those memories back so clearly. And that's the good stuff of family stories years down the road.
You look so much like Kate! :) I only met you once a LONG time ago...I guess I forgot! :)
I say that all the time...that I need to be in more pictures...problem is, I'm usually taking it! :)
Oh, Jenni...what funny memories...and what GREAT smiles! ^o^
Joey can't work the video camera..I make sure to have a presence with silly commentary and song throughout any video that I take. That'll show em!
