under snowed

Hank went to bed hoping for snow. He really wants to try the new sled Santa left at Christmas.

Every year, winter feels everlasting, like I can't wait for it to be over. But I'm in the mood to see some snow, too.

There is something about time ordered by the work of warm layers - getting them on and taking them off and hanging them to dry. Something about children who appear half-astronaut, limbs stuffed into puffy suits. Who have ice stuck in their eyelashes and grins glued to their cold happy faces.

It's good for both of us to have conversation around what to do with wishing, to recognize that creating usually feels better than complaining.
